West Bengal: West Bengal opposition leader and BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari launched a strongly-worded attack on Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, alleging that she had given a "provocative speech" during the Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations at Red Road. Adhikari went to social media platform X to convey his concern, questioning Banerjee's remarks and accusing her of saying inflammatory things.

'Dirty Religion' comment causes row

Adhikari targeted Banerjee's particular remark in which she purportedly declared that she doesn't follow the "Ganda Dharm" or "Dirty Religion". He questioned what religion she was talking about, asking if it was Sanatan Hindu Dharma. BJP IT cell head Amit Malviya also entered the fray, tweeting that Banerjee had mocked Hindus and ridiculed their religion.

Accusations of inciting communal violence

Adhikari again accused Banerjee of consistently invoking the word "Danga" (riot) and attempting to create hatred among communities. He cautioned that it would ultimately boomerang against her. The BJP response followed Banerjee's remark that she was "willing to sacrifice" her life for all religions and blamed opposition parties for conspiring communal violence.
